Gizo solid waste management fun day today

GIZO Solid Waste Management Fun-Day will be held today at Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) building in Gizo.

The programme, which will be held for four hours, includes introducing the new JICA volunteer Ms Yuko Furukawa that will replace Naoya during the Fun Day.

According to Japanese volunteer Ms Yuko Furukawa, lots of fun and activities will be carried out during the day and recycled arts and crafts will be displayed at the venue.

She adds that “Malakerava 2 and 3 communities will be the core host of this Gizo Solid Waste Management Fun-Day together with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services in Gizo, the Ministry of Energy and the Division Natural Resources, Gizo Town Council and the Solid Waste Management Volunteers and officers”.

She also encourages public in Gizo to come and be part of the Solid Waste Management Fun-Day.

Yuko said lots of activities including singing, dancing will be on so come along and be part of the Fun-Day programme.

“We will be conducting awareness program of the importance of conserving and protecting of our entire environment,” said Yuko.

Yuko invite everyone includes Schools around Gizo to participating and makes good effort to attend this Fun-Day today.

She said Malakerava 2 and 3 are well organised on how they manage waste in their areas, therefore Yuko encourage other villages and community members around Gizo Island to attend the Fun-Day.

Gizo Solid Waste Management Programme will start from 9am to 2pm at the MSG building.
