SI pledges support for Germany’s UN Security Council bid

GOVERNOR General of Solomon Islands Sir Frank Kabui said the country supports the Republic of Germany‘s candidacy for non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.

Newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Germany to Solomon Islands, Dr Anna Prinz, said Germany is counting on Solomon Islands for its support for a seat as a non-permanent member of the Security Council.

HE Ambassador Dr Prinz said Germany is one of the largest contributors and wants to promote peace via the United Nations and other means.

“History shows how vulnerable we all are and the remains of the last war are still to be seen.”
Sir Frank replied saying, “Your country’s candidacy for the non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council is noted with interest. The United Nations Security Council is important and we value its objectives and values.

Sir Frank said Solomon Islands is always available to give support.

“We are always available to give you our support, if we can, in facilitating your duties as Ambassador to Solomon Islands,“ he said.
