PAP President disagrees with Kadere President

PRESIDENT of the People’s Alliance Party (PAP), Sir Nathaniel Waena has expressed his disappointment in the way Kadere Party has portrayed itself in the media.

Sir Waena made the comment over the phone when responding to a request made by Island Sun to share the achievements of PAP through the Democratic Coalition for Change Government (DCCG) as one of the three political parties making up the coalition.

The same was done with Kadere Party President and Secretary weeks before but in an exclusive interview with the paper.

He told Island Sun over the phone that for Kadere Party to say they have achieved satisfactory outcomes as a party through the Government is misleading.

In an earlier exclusive interview with the paper, Kadere Party President Peter Boyers and Secretary Robert Chris told Island Sun that Kadere Party has been making strides in its achievements as a party within the leading Coalition.

The duo told the paper at the time that Kadere Party is elated that the DCCG has taken up the party’s flagship policy.

“This means we are trying to not get our people subject to processes that they are waiting for something to happen.

“Instead, to have a platform to have them actively involved in ensuring that whatever legislations pass dealing with resources or social issues, they have an inclusive say in it according to their traditional settings and their traditional governance structures,” said Peter Boyers.

The Kadere Party President then added that the party is dedicated to empower the traditional structures and systems so that they become part of a governing body and not be spectators.

Boyers then added that the democratic model of the country makes people spectators and not partners.

“That is why we are trying to lift up that third level that represents the majority into a policy position of decision making, social governance and other resources yet to be developed so that they become partners and not spectators.

“The number one recommendation was that if we do not want to lapse back into social disorder we need to create social order by including Chiefs Committees and Churches into the Government and stop leaving them outside the decision making done by the Government,” Kadere President Peter Boyers said.

He then reiterated that Kadere Party is a social order party that represents the traditional identity and structures so that they are given due recognition and they have roles and functions to play in maintaining peaceful social-economic sustainable development.

Boyers is a Consultant to the Ministry of National Unity, Peace and Reconciliation working on the proposed Traditional System of Governance.

This Boyers added is a flagship policy of the DCC Government through policy objectives of the Kadere Party.

Sir Waena however has strongly disagreed that the Kadere Party has achieved satisfactory outcomes as a party within the coalition saying it is misleading to boast.

“We must be honest, we have achieved very little in this Government,” Sir Waena said.

With an obvious head-butt with the two political parties that make up the tri-party Coalition (Democratic Coalition for Change Government), questions now lie whether the implementation of Government policies are going as smooth as they are said to be.

Island Sun has requested a similar interview with the United Democratic Party (UDP) Executive but was repudiated the opportunity by the Secretary Barnabas Henson.
