MPs urged to attend seminar

MEMBERS of Parliament (MPs) have been urged to attend an important seminar scheduled for tomorrow Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 April 2017.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament and MP for East Areare Andrew Manepora’a announced this on the floor of parliament on Friday.

He said the objective of the seminar is to increase MPs understanding on the role of parliament in promoting development objectives.

“Such as commitments to achieve sustainable development objectives goals and address climate change.

“Honourable members are therefore asked to please attend,” he said.

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare last week has also expressed his disappointment on MPs non-attendance in important workshops and seminars.

Mr Sogavare said from what he has observed to be a deliberate and continual non-attendance to important consultation meeting organized for members of parliament on very important policy matters.

He adds MPs should care to appreciate their responsibility as leaders entrusted to make important decision for the country.
