Japan supports Adakoa Rural Training Centre

ADAKOA RTC has officially signed their classroom project worth SBD$610,000 from Embassy of Japan.

School Principal David Leliana commended that the ceremony was of special significance to the history and life of Adakoa RTC community and its surrounding communities.

“The day has brought happiness and joy for us to celebrate our official signing of the grant of SBD$610,000 for the classroom project for Adakoa RTC, which I describe as a day to remember and worth commemorating.”

He said the vision of Adakoa RTC was birthed in 2010 when its first classroom was completed and students attended classes.

“However, countless challenges and setbacks have led to the school’s run-down state, peaking in last year’s incident in which there was no graduation for students” Mr Leliana said.

The biggest challenge Adakoa RTC school faced is funds to facilitate the administrational operations.

He said, fees were the foremost difficulty faced and the students were asked to bring local bush materials for classroom renovation instead of cash.

He further said that teachers too have supported the students well while the school board conducted series of meeting that set direction for the school.

“However despite the criticism and financial limitation, the going gets going which end result was done well today,” Mr Leliana said.

“Therefore I would like to thank you most sincerely and profoundly, particularly for His Excellency Mr Kenichi Kimiya, Ambassador of Japan and the People of Japan for assistance of SBD$610,000.00 which was signed today.”

He further said the money will assist the completion for four block classroom, workshop block, toilet rooms and full building electrical wiring which will enhance the level of training offered at Adakoa RTC.

Meanwhile Mr Gideon Row, Vice president of SIAVRTC encourages the Adakoa RTC student to utilise the opportunity and enjoy through learning and skills training.

Mr Gideon further said these skills training offered at Adakoa RTC are a manifestation that will build the capacity of these students and this nation.
