PAP mourns Chief Denis Carlos Lulei

Members of the constitution reform congress paying their final respects

THE People’s Alliance Party is mourning the death of one of its founding members, Chief Denis Carlos Lulei of Isabel Province on May 11.

A media statement from the People’s Alliance Party says late Chief Lulei was a staunch party supporter, adding through this staunch support, he made Isabel an Alliance Party strong-hold in the 1980s and 1990s.

It says initially through late Chief Lulei’s leadership, PAP held the two Isabel Constituencies of East and West Isabel and the party continued to dominate the Province even after the creation of the third Constituency of Gao-Bugotu in the late 1990s.

But the media statement says since late Chief Lulei lost his seat, the People’s Alliance Party also lost its grip of Isabel Province.

The PAP Executive however paid tribute to the late school teacher turned politician for always being vocal when discussing in Parliament such issues as education, foreign affairs and the development of Solomon Islands.
