WESTERN Province will soon ban plastic bags.

Premier Wayne Maepioh yesterday summoned all the environmental stakeholders and NGO technical representatives of the province including its relevant environmental departments purposely to plan on this epidemic issue.

“There will be a two days presentation amongst stakeholders next week Wednesday and Thursday and after a communiqué is completed then on Friday I will sign the policy that will be pushed through the Executive Government to be approved,” said Hon Maepioh.

“I have a dream on improving our environments waste management as well and we have to address issues specifically in order to address them.

“Laws such as these are already within the bylaws of the Town Council’s but this is how the province will now take its approach towards plastic rubbish.

“This is because plastic rubbish has become an epidemic within the province,” he added.

Presentations to be carried out next week is for the environmental representatives to present what are the best alternatives to deal with the rubbish plastic issue and explain why they think that such alternatives are the best to come up with for the province.
