Sealed Seghe airstrip to boost tourism

NEW Zealand is currently going out for a design to see what the costs are for the Seghe runway to be sealed.

This is according to the NEW Zealand High Commissioner HE Donald Higgins during his courtesy meeting with the Premier of Western Province Hon Wayne Maepioh this week.

“For airports like Seghe, we think that it is really important for them to be sealed because of the tourism potential surroundings,” said HE Higgins.

“Seghe’s tourist number arrivals are limited because of the situation of big planes that could not land there at the moment.

“So it is very important that we can get Seghe sealed in order for Solomon Airlines to be able to fly and land the Dash 8 there rather than the Twin Otter in which will allow a lot of more tourists to get there.”
