More Rice price cuts on the way

SOLRICE Company has informed the media that another significant decrease in its ‘Solrais’ product is on its way.
The General Manager of Solomon Rice Company Limited (SOLRICE), Nick Ellis informed Island Sun about the decrease in its distributor price over the weekend.
Mr Ellis said that following on from the announcement to the trade on the 5th of September regarding a price decrease across the Solrais range, the company has decided that conditions are again right to introduce further investment in order to reduce its distributor price once more.
He said this second decrease by SolRice in a month however will only be available on the Solrais 20kg bag, SolRice’s biggest selling pack-size.
Mr Ellis said that retailers have indicated to the company that they will pass on the price cuts to consumers and the reduced recommended retail price will soon be seen in the market. The additional discount on the 20kg Solrais pack will be available to SolRice Distributors from the 3rd of October.
“I’m excited once more, to be in a position to announce these further discounts to our distributors and to see the positive effect this will have on the Solomon Islands through a competitive retail environment.
The company recommends a retail price for the Solrais 20kg of $180 per bag, however, retail pricing is influenced by a number of factors and retailers are always free to price as they see fit.
“The company is confident that the huge investment placed in this latest discount, will be fully experienced by the loyal consumers of Solrais, who deserve this additional reward”
Mr Ellis believes that the discount would be sustainable for the long term, adding that the impacts on costs change all the time, but at this stage, he says the company is very pleased to be able to pass on price savings to our distributors and through them to our consumers, whenever possible.
On another note, Mr Ellis also informs the media that for a limited period, until the end of December, SolRice will be introducing a ‘Freight Free’ period for their distributors to both the Western Province and Malaita.
He said this massive additional investment, supporting the latest announcement about the decrease in price, will again allow the distributors, wholesalers and retailers of these major provinces, to provide consumers with prices not seen in Western or Malaita provinces for many years.
He knows that the company’s loyal consumers in the two provinces will really benefit from this combined price saving along with enjoying their favourite brand, Solrais.
