Dettke hits back at PM

Dettke rebuffs Sogavare’s claims to pull down government, ‘PM is living in glass house’

THE MP for North West Guadalcanal Hon Bodo Dettke has rebuffed the claims that he is actively been working inconspicuously to topple the government, capitalising on members’ reservations on the strategy to address corruption.

Media statement from the Office of the Independent group says, “It is absurd that PM Sogavare has stoop too low to make allegation in singling him out.”

“Whilst contemplating on Sogavare’s outburst in parliament, and what transpired in the media on Island Sun, Tuesday 14 March 2017; I am yet to deduce what he is referring to, or is he lamenting about the lobbying period for the Prime Minister’s position prior to his election?”

Hon Dettke said, “What transpired from such reaction only reflects someone who is scared, having had to intentionally delay the actual bill through formulation of the National Anticorruption Strategy paper which went through the parliament last week.

“Prime Minister Sogavare must have something to hide from the people of this country. There is no time to point fingers on others as the nation is watching anxiously for the passage of the bill.

“As far as I am concerned, I am all for the bill and prepared to raise my hand in support.

“The doubts expressed by Sogavare is a self-constructed version of the devil he created himself than later feared for his own demise.

“The 20 rooms at the Honiara hotel alleged by the PM may have referred to the occasion when Sogavare was voted in as the Prime Minister of Solomon Islands in December 2014.

“No right minded PM will ever have the courage to throw the first stone when his own wrong doings are a common knowledge to the people.

“To name a few, the PM has to be answerable for his ‘Unexplained Wealth’ he has obtained during his current Prime Ministership, which I have the documents with me. More so, he has done nothing about the $650m royal commission investigation into the corrupt logging dealings in this country.

“In saying that, I am interested to know how PM Sogavare got into power. Apparently, it is obvious that his current ruling is backed up by the logging companies who have been corrupting this country for ages.

“The PM cannot point fingers as he is living in a glass house.

“Therefore, as referred to his allegation that I am instigating a move to topple his government, is a fabricated assumption that the PM had constructed to brain-wash peoples’ minds from the real substance, which is; Sogavare is insecure as he may be implicated as one of those culprits heading towards the Iron Gate.”
