Tribes urge gov’t to hasten record process

SOME tribes of Bina Harbour are urging the national government to speed up the land recording process to determine ownership of the Bina Talifu land.

Chief Harry Haiwawasi Arufaegwo of the Kwaio tribal group believed to be the origin of Bina area Kwara’ae, west Kwaio, said “I am urging the DCCG to speed up recording system, power funds to established body so that we completing tribes in BINA case to come out with ownership of BINA Talifu land so that it make ways for the project to start before your time is laps.”

He believes that the land recording system will solve the Bina Talifu land problem.

“Land recording was not a new thing in Malaita province, recording system had been taken place in the Aluta Basin already, and twenty piece of land has been registered through recording and PE’s being given to the rightful owner of each land.

“To my knowledge I think this is the right way for us to enter and to know the ownership of BINA Talifu land so that the ground breaking can take place with the rightful owner to sign the most important document the agreement,” Chief Arufaegwao said.

“That if there’s no hearing for the appeal I think it’s good that all parties involved in the Bina case should ready to enter through the recording system which sooner will has office in Auki.”

Mr Arufaegwao said the issue of Bina Talifu land has been going on for 50 years.

“My warning to us the public is, don’t claim land which is not yours, land is a life property given from God almighty on day one,” Chief Arufaegwao said.
