Man allegedly stabbed to death

A man in his late 20s has died after being allegedly stabbed on Friday night at Vonu village in Marau, East Guadalcanal.

Marau police have arrested the suspect, a male in his mid-20s and have had him remanded at Marau Police custody.

Reports reaching the paper said the suspect used a scissors to stab the victim with, on his upper left torso, an incident that has sent shock waves throughout the Marau area.

It says the suspect was under influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, and there was only one witness over the stabbing, which occurred at around 8pm on Friday night.

Reasons surrounding the alleged killing are still shallow at this stage as Marau police are gathering evidence and are investigating the tragic death.

Marau police confirmed the death but could not comment further.

However, this paper was reliably told that a doctor from Honiara was transported by boat to Marau and conducted a post-mortem at Marau Clinic on Saturday before the body was laid to rest yesterday.

Initial reports obtained by the paper said that there was no argument between the two before or during the time of the incident. It adds that the two were close blood related.

It says the man died instantly as a result of the stabbing.
