Taiwan gives Relief Assistance and helps with other good causes        

IT may have escaped national attention so far but the Republic of China (ROC) has very recently aided the National Referral Hospital (NRH) and provided solar power provisioning in Choiseul.
The package of aid included the sum of SBD$398,089.17 towards relief assistance for the earthquake- stricken people of Makira-Ulawa Province and southern region of Malaita Province, a sum of SBD$6,005,173.88 for infrastructure projects for the National Referral Hospital and a total sum of SBD$2,250,477.70 for solar-power systems for the Kumanibae Development Centre of East Choiseul Constituency and Tiparere Development Centre of West New George/Vonavona Constituency.

The Taiwanese Ambassador to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Victor Te-sun Yu, handed over the letters confirming the transfer of the various funding assistances from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to the Central Bank of Solomon Islands to the Prime Minister the Hon Manasseh Sogavare last Friday at the National Parliament building.

The Prime Minister, in receiving the letters, said the new funding assistance reaffirmed the firm and cordial relationship between Solomon Islands and Taiwan and the latter’s ongoing commitment to assist Solomon Islands in its time of need.
