Stay out of politics: outgoing Chairman of Land Board, Donald Kudu

Out going Chairman of Land Board Mr Donald Kudu

THE outgoing Chairman of Lands Board has called on the current Lands Board executive to stay out of politics when it comes to decision making.

Mr Donald Kudu urged the current Land Board to use the existing legislations as guide to its decisions.

“Stay out of Political interests, keep out from Politics, don’t be influence by any external forces.

“Thinks critically and objectively guided by legislation to deliver and make quality decision,” this was his message when he retired from the job last year.

But Mr Kudu said he was happy with the Lands Board during his tenure as Chairman as decision made has maintained the integrity of the Board in dealing with land since the organisation was established two years ago.

He said land development is very difficult with mounting pressure coming from many direction within the government and private sectors.

Mr Kudu stressed that the pressure of development and increasing population are among difficult issues the Lands Board will undertake in the coming years.

He added that the existing land boundary is another issue as there is no sign of boundary extension for the growing population of Honiara City.

“Honiara city will stuck with the same amount of land reliably made available by the government and Landowners of Guadalcanal,” Mr Kudu explained.

He said the Land Board along with the Ministry of Lands have to dig unfathomably in effort to maximise the allocation and use of existing land spaces.

“That is the function of the Land Board, the efficient and effective way of utilising land and also giving the proper avenue for land development in the context of National Development is the hard fought function Land Board have to achieve.

“It is important to note that collaborative efforts from various sectors both in the government ministries and private sectors is vitally important in this task,” Mr Kudu said.

He continues to say that the country’s economy is currently experiencing a huge setback in availability of land which is the primary industry of any development.

Meanwhile Mr Kudu said the strength of the Land Board rests on the Land Legislation, dedicated staffs within the Lands Board and proper constitution for Land Board.

He said the strength and success of the Land Board can be determined on decisions made on land allocation and feedbacks of the decisions.

Mr Kudu said the existing threat of the Land Board is lack of enthusiasm within the supporting government ministries and that requires Land Board Administrative to consider possible intervention in effort to addressing the issue.
