SICCI looks at creating avenue for information channelling

CEO of SICCI, Mr Dennis Forau Meone speaking during the Information Session.

THE Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry is working on establishing an avenue for information channelling between stakeholders and the government.

The idea follows the need for regular exchange of information between the government and stakeholders.

CEO of SICCI, Mr Dennis Forau Meone told this paper during an information session hosted by the organisation last week, saying there is a need for such initiatives to be in place.

He said as currently experienced, there still an inactive flow of information between the government and the businesses down there.

Mr Meone pointed out that with that practice or tradition, it left many businesses down there and the government are not knowing each other and their work.

“When the government made decisions, we know that it will implemented through its lines of Ministries, and it goes down to businesses and individuals who will be affected by those actions.

“And sometimes, information is what has been lacking to rightly carry those actions down to business or people down there.

“Not only one way flow of information from government downwards, but also important information are with businesses down there that need to reach government for considerations.

“Lots of businesses down there faced with many difficulties or areas of concern that needs government’s attentions,” he said.

Mr Meone said this is where SICCI came up with this initiative, to establish this channel of information between the government down to businesses and people and from businesses up to the government.

He expressed that it is something more like “government to talk to businesses and businesses to talk to government”.
