THE Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry is appealing to all media organisations to see the regulating and strengthening information for the benefit of people, businesses and the government.

CEO of SICCI, Mr Dennis Forau Meone told this paper during an information session hosted by the organisation recently that there is a need for all media organisations to take the lead in informing each of these categories in their works.

He said SICCI is looking on establishing something like information regulator, purposely to work on channelling of information from government down to businesses and businesses up to reach government level.

Mr Meone stated that coming up with this initiative there are lots of outcomes to anticipate as it will allow more cooperation and understanding between the government and businesses and individuals down there.

Meanwhile, to do that he urged that there is a need to build a better relationship between communication offices of government ministries, State Own Enterprises and even down to the Small Medium Enterprises.

“SICCI found there is a need to collaborate on that and work together towards establishing effective network between each other to carry out the work.

“And the initiative can only happen if government communication offices and other private sectors come togeether to demand it.

“SICCI showed great need for this initiative as it will resulting in uniting individuals, businesses and government to understand each other and work hand-in-hand,” the CEO said.

He reiterated by calling upon all media offices to work together to implement the idea so that information in their offices can rightly channel to responsible authorities with understandings.

Adding that establishing such information base, it will help individual, businesses and government to aware of their functions and areas of concerns they need to work towards.

However, he said SICCI is optimistic about this initiative and if everyone to work together, they can make better to channel information between each other and for each other’s benefits.
