My hope that Nation Building be the renewed focus for 2017
“YOUR pride for your country should not come after your country becomes great; your country becomes great because of your pride in it.”
― Idowu Koyenikan
“A nation is defined by its borders or the boundaries of its land mass Rather, a nation is defined by adverse people who have been unified by a cause and a value system and who are committed to a vision for the type of society they wish to live in and give to the future generations to come.” (Anon)
Another year is drawing to a close and my message to all in the Solomon Islands is that all should try to find the resources in themselves to succeed in nation building; otherwise if one paraphrases Shakespeare, ‘default would be not in our style but in ourselves.”
The key to national unity, amidst all the upsets of one kind or another in 2016, lies, essentially in the productivity and industriousness of all and in a leadership willing to confront the challenges in a bipartisan way that is wholly beneficial for nation building, identifying the core challenges, strengths and weaknesses and through the development of the economy and equal opportunities for all, ensure no one is marginalized of deprived of their social , human and economic rights.
A Happy Christmas and New Year to all.
Yours sincerely
