Government vows to promote cultural festival

THE government through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism is planning to promote the country’s culture and tradition practices through cultural festivals for all provinces.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Hon Bartholomew Parapolo said the country has diverse cultures and that the government is of the view that promoting the country’s culture is one way to boost the tourism industry.
“From Visitors Bureau Survey conducted in the past, culture and cultural experiences were highlighted as the number one reason why people decided to visit our country.
“This shows that our cultures are very important strengths for the development of tourism sector.
“One way is to promote cultural festival,” he said.
Minister Parapolo said the Democratic Coalition for Change Government will continue to support the development and promotion of cultural festival to attract tourists to visit the country.
He adds cultural festival encourages combined participation in tourism promotion and also preserving the culture and traditional practices the country has.
Minister Parapolo said the proposed plan will give rise to tangible development made in rural areas that would open up business opportunities for people.
He acknowledged the Isabel Provincial Government and the organising committee for successfully staging the weeklong Kodili festival last week.
