High Copra price gets farmers flooding in

Local copra farmers selling their copra at Barik copra buyers this week

BARIK copra buyers at White River is now flooded with copra producers because it is currently one of the three firm copra buyers in Honiara that are currently buying copra for $5 per kilo.

According to the owner of Barik Copra buyers Mr Coleman Togana, this could possibly be the last week for the high price of copra so they are encouraging copra producers to sell their products to them before this Christmas week concludes.

The highest copra price per kilo currently is $5 while the rest of copra buyers are buying for $4.50.

Mr Togana said that the copra price only depends on the commodity price so they are working quickly to supply for exporting while they still have the chance.

Local copra farmers selling their copra at Barik copra buyers this week expressed their happiness for the copra buyers to be servicing them with such a price during this Christmas season as it is also approaching the New Year countdown.

Most copra farmers crowding in at the Barik copra buyers this week are from Guadalcanal and Central provinces.
