Chief of Taruvana village accused of mismanaging projects

THE Chief of Taruvana village at Northeast Choiseul has been accused of mismanaging two projects that their MP, the Prime Minister of Solomon Islands Hon Manasseh Sogavare, allocated for their community.

According to Berry Tanavoqa, reporting from Taruvana village, the first project was an income generating project in which the local citizen claimed that the Chief only enjoyed the fund for himself resulting in the project levelling back to nothing.

“The second project was an OBM with a 15hp engine allocated for the village community to use as transport to support us to the clinic, church, community activities, income and other purposes,” said Mr Tanavoqa.

“But the Chief instead handled the community transport only for his own likes and desires as if the community transport was for himself, ignoring the community,” he said.

According to Nerio Ulemiki, the media coordinator for Christ the King Parish at Voruvoru northwest Choiseul, the locals of Taruvana village calls on the PM and his CDO to reconsider their ideals on Taruvana community.
