Western province demonstrates commitment to maintaining peace

LEADERS and people of Western province have demonstrated high levels of commitment to maintaining peace, stability and unity in the province and the country.

United Nations Development Programme Country Manager Ms Azusa Kubota said this last week, adding that it is the commitment and action by the people of Solomon Islands that will carry forward the gains made in law and order and peace and security and foster sustainable development.

She explained that the dialogue agenda presented last week outlines key issues identified by the leaders of the province.

“Without the drive and enthusiasm demonstrated by honourable Premier Wayne Maepio and the Chairman of the dialogue taskforce Hon George Solingi Lilo, this dialogue would not have been possible.

“I would like to thank the incredible level of participation and diversity from the Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, Village Chiefs provincial government officers to young people who attended the dialogue in Gizo last week.

“You should all be proud and consider yourselves fortunate to have this dialogue at this juncture,” said Ms Kubota.
