ALL pool matches for the 2017 Bulk Shop Under-16 futsal league are complete after the final games for pools C and B yesterday.
Three matches were played at the Multipurpose Hall, despite the poor weather yesterday afternoon and saw Mt Horeb School and Naha securing their spots for the quarter final stage while Harvest Academy finished their campaign in high note.
Calvin Do’oro and Justin Alabae were the heroes for Harvest Academy as they beat Bishop Epalle School 2-0 after a wasteful first half.
Two decisive matches for second place in Pool C and D yesterday saw Mt Horeb taking on Florence Young School while Naha came up against Coronation school.
Florence Young without the services of Junior Lea’alafa yesterday, trailed 1-0 five minutes into the game, Mt Horeb’s Junior Ramoni giving his side the lead.
Hendry M leveled the scores for Florence Young two minutes later only to see Mt Horeb team captain Nelson Sare retaining their goal cushion.
Roger Vince Nate was outstanding for Florence Young but struggled to create clear chances to get back into the game.
Dickson even the scores again 10 minutes into the first half but saw Sare again finding the back of the net for his second goal of the match and lead 3-2 at the break.
It worsened for Florence Young in the second half as Mt Horeb returned for six more goals, Sare, Eddie Kafo, and Peter Titimi all on target to see them finish the match 9-2.
Meanwhile, Naha Community High School team captain Jesper Natei said his boys are happy to qualify for the quarters and are proud to represent their school in the Bulk Shop league this year.
“We are happy. We look forward for the quarterfinals and will train even harder for the knockout stages,” Natai said.
Goals from Japhet Iro, Michael N, Je Wari and two each from Jesper Natai and Charlie S. saw them eliminate Coronation from the quarterfinals yesterday.
Chris Mariu was on target for Coronation School scoring three goals as they bowed out of the competition losing 7-2.
