St. Paul auki church to be rebuilt
THE ST.Paul church, Auki in the Anglican diocese of malaita will soon be rebuilt at a new site.
Speaking to island sun in Auki, Kwaraáe fundraising group organising committee member Chris Angisirigi said the much anticipated fund raising plan kicked off two weeks ago.
It began with a colourful food selling programme where close to a thousand people living around the township were also part of.
He said the fund raising activity is purposely for the rebuilding of St Paul church building which has been proposed for more than 10 years.
The church is located at a very low area and during rainy seasons the building will be filled with water and mud and in turn will affect church service programmes, Angisirigi said.
We are divided into groups according to languages, northern region, southern region and kwara’ae fundraising groups.
Kwaraáe parishioners in Auki parish have already raised and collected $32,387 and have described it as an achievement and blessing for the St Paul church reconstruction project.
He encourages interested groups, the government and parishioners to continue supporting the St Paul parish fundraising campaign.
The church was built more than 20 years ago and this fundraising is the first part of the St Paul church reconstruction project.
St Paul church has accommodated church gathering, reconciliation programmes of different organisations and groups in and around Auki town.
St Paul Parish Fr Henry Kwaina Dau acknowledges all supporting groups and individuals who are supporting the successful fundraising.
The next group to organise next fundraising activities for the church building is Northern region.

The new church building project aim is to target $ 100,000 this year.
