THE new Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Solomon Islands has presented his credentials to the Governor General yesterday at the Governor General’s Office. In his speech, Governor General Sir Frank Kabui welcomed the new Ambassador as a non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary with full powers to represent the Czech Republic in Solomon Islands. Adoption amendment Bill passed

THE Adoption (Amendment) Bill 2016 was passed in Parliament yesterday. The Act seeks to amend the Adoption Act 2004 (the principal Act) in relation to inter-country adoption. Amendments of the Bill include deleting each reference to ‘infant’ and substituting it with the term ‘child’ instead and ‘infants’ to the term ‘children’. Court goes tough on domestic violence penalty

DEPUTY Chief Magistrate Sheppard Lapo has reiterated in court yesterday that anyone committing a domestic criminal violence offence will receive an immediate custodial sentence.
