WP peace and reconciliation projects outlined
UNDER the Western Province (WP) Peace and Reconciliation Division of the Ministry of National Unity, Reconciliation and Peace (MNURP), Western Province will be implementing many peace and reconciliation projects.
This is according to an update by the Ministry in holistically implementing the Democratic Coalition for Change Government’s policies, the National Peacebuilding policy and the National Development strategy.
What is to be done this year is carrying out the Bougainville, Western and Choiseul consultation on border issues, consultation with Bougainville Peace Offices, Western Provincial dialogue and a Provincial Healing and apology between Bougainville Chiefs (ARBG, WPG and CPG).
The update further adds that there will be conflict resolutions between Makena/Kiribati Communities, Establish the FAMOA Council of Chiefs, support enthronement of traditionally appointed Chiefs and small support grant to registered Council and Houses of Chiefs and Elders for administration, community reconciliations and dialogue meetings.
It also states that the Western Province CGO final consultation with Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening (MPGIS) Legal Advisor, Attorney General’s Chambers and the Provincial Assembly and Executive will be done and follow-up workshops will be conducted for Roviana, Vella La Vella, Rendova and Tetepare.
The Ministry also promises to conduct the Kolombagara Traditional Governance and Structures Workshops.
