EACH year Our Telekom holds a ‘BBQ and Carols Andanit the Christmas’ in front of the Telekom Haus at Mud Alley.

The money raised goes towards charity, and this year Our Telekom has decided to donate to the various community services within the Church of Melanesia.

Our Telekom therefore presented cash gifts to various arms of the Church of Melanesia who work within our communities in the Solomon Islands.

Five groups within the Church of Melanesian received a total of $20,000 at the Chester Rest House yesterday afternoon.

The assistance will go towards their community service work in the country.

The Christian Care Centre, The Melanesian Brotherhood (Tabalia), Society of St Francis, Sisters of the Church and Sisters of Melanesia all received cash gifts of $4,000 each, presented to them by Our Telekom staff.

Speaking on behalf of Our Telekom Board and Management, Lionel Puhimana says the gift was on behalf of each and every employee of Our Telekom – given from the heart.

“We are very pleased and humbled to present you with this small assistance for your community service, and this is given on behalf of every single employee of Our Telekom from our hearts,” says Puhimana

Representatives from each of the groups thanked Our Telekom and expressed much gratitude and appreciation for the love and concern and for recognising the work that they do in the Solomon Islands.

Brother Albert Iroga of the Melanesian Brotherhood, in his brief remarks, says the gifts were unexpected and shows that Our Telekom is kabani blong iumi.

He and other gift recipients extended their best wishes and God’s Blessings to the company in the coming New Year.

Our Telekom also extends its gratitude to the public in general who supported its efforts in raising money for Charity and Community Service organisations in the country.

“We look forward to working to together in the future to remember support and spread the love of Christmas to the less fortunate by supporting community service organisations like the ones within the Church of Melanesia.

“Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year 2016.”
