WATER and Sanitation Project on Niuleni and Funafou is scheduled to be launched next week.
The launching of the project comes as Landowner of Niuleni and Funafou, Manuáu Beleo Tribe gave their approval for the project to continue.
In an interview with this paper Principal Landowner and Chairman of Manuáu Beleo Tribe Mr Stance Sanga and Sade Belo said they are happy and will throw all their support towards the implementation of the project.
They said their disagreements have been sorted out following a series of consultation with the Prime Minister’s Office and that all the disagreements have now been dealt with accordingly with a successful solution.
Mr Sanga and Mr Sade said they will leave Honiara for Niuleni and Funafou today (Friday) to help their communities in their preparation for the upcoming project launching ceremony.
They call on community leaders of Niuleni and Funafou to support the project in whatever means.
Mr Sanga and Mr Sande acknowledged the Prime Minister for making the project possible for the people of Niuleni and Funafou.
Landowners of Manu’au and Baleo tribal lands in Lau lagoon in Malaita Province early this year rejected the project being carried out on their land.
The rejection was made following a collective dialogue by the Executive Board of Directors of Manu’au and Baleo tribes after a meeting held on Sunday 24, 2016, concerning the project.
The disagreement was said to be triggered from lots of reasons, one of which was a fishy undertaking by their president to procure the project without consulting his board members.
Now that the issue is solved, the project is ready and people of Niuleni and Funafou are expecting better water supply and sanitation.
