New Airline CEO vies for new aircrafts

SOLOMON Airlines new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brett Gerbers said one of his ultimate plans is looking at trying to acquire other aircraft to replace the aging Solomon Airlines aircrafts.

“This airline has a number of problems, it has aging aircraft fleet. That we will manage through increased maintenance where possible, we will manage through grounding aircrafts if required.

“We will ultimately looking at trying to acquire other aircraft to replace these aging aircrafts,” Mr Gerbers said.

He said in the meantime, the airline doesn’t have much money.

“That is in time to come because the Solomon airlines doesn’t have much money, that’s the problem.

“We have to lease aircrafts, but in order to lease aircrafts I need to be satisfy on what we able to lease. We have to lease because we don’t have a huge bulge of cash standing by to go and find an aircraft,” he said.

He said the airlines need to come up with a new strategy, and work on implementing the strategy.

“I need to understand why things are done the way they are, I need to understand the people here, the we need to look at opportunities that are available to this airlines, then I will look at the problems that the airline faces, then we need to come up with a strategy.

“We are going to implement that strategy, after that there will obviously continue improvement,” he told Island Sun.
