Gizo Police praise public for good behaviour

GIZO Police have conveyed their gratitude to the general public for their commendable behaviour during the Christmas celebrations in the western province.
Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Vincent Eria told Island Sun Gizo yesterday he acknowledges the public for their good behaviour and, “no criminal arrests were reported in the Gizo during this festive session”.
“We continue to thank the general public and surrounding islands for their behavior and attitude during this Christmas festive session and we encourage everyone to keep up the same behavior until New Year celebration.
“We encourage everyone especially church elders, chiefs and community members to working hand and hand to support the work of the police to fight against crime and prevent crime.
“Our police officers in charge will continue to carry out a high visibility during this Christmas and New Year in the province,” said Eria.
He said the public are being advised not to drink and drive along the street and canoe, “because your life is very important as we prepare to look forward to this year New Year 2017 celebration”.
Eria said police will continue to monitor surrounding areas so that everyone celebrates this New Year 2017 peacefully, “therefore we continues to remind the general public to take responsibility for themselves and their families”.
Meanwhile, PPC Eria said “This week Gizo police officers have carried out police awareness program to surrounding communities in West Gizo and Vella La Vella Island.
“The work of the police is for our community leaders to get to know us and the diverse range of services we have to offer here in the province so that we prevent criminal activities during this Christmas and New Year program.
He also acknowledges the RSIP, Gizo police officers and all the participants from all the surrounding communities who discussed local crime trends, crime prevention, investigation, operational policing, policies and protocols that guide decision-making processes in the country and province.
