Dash-8 engine arrives, service expected soon

SOLOMON Airlines has confirmed that the replacement engine for the Dash-8 arrived in Brisbane on Saturday January 28 and was ferried to Honiara on Monday January 30 on the Airline’s Airbus A320.
The Airline spokesman further confirmed that engineers will conduct a straight engine swap under very stringent safety engineering procedures to ensure a quick return to service.
The Solomon Airlines acknowledges the patience of its valued passengers during the grounding of the dash 8 and sincerely apologises for the inconvenience this may have caused.
“Our passenger’s safety is our upmost importance” Solomon Airlines spokesman added.
“As this was a safety issue the Airline had no choice but to ground the Dash 8 until a replacement engine was made available. A return to normal domestic service is now expected as soon as practical being a matter of immediate priority.”
