Church leader commends REP establishment
A Church leader in Naha Community is inspired by Rapid Employment Project’s approach that touches communities within Honiara.
A well-known Church Leader at Naha Community, Fr Divine Kabau in a project signing held last week commends REP’s move for employing people in the communities around Honiara.
He requested if REP included women and youths at Naha community in the new project which is under Island Kori Construction for road maintenance.
“I come representing Naha community, and it is also a big community in Honiara and I want REP or contractor to employ women and youths at Naha community inside this proect so that we know you help us,” Fr Kabau said.
The Managing Director for Island Kori Construction, Mrs Cathrene Ernest said she will look at engaging people in Naha community in the project.
She said it is to support families for small incomes and help speed up the implementation of the construction according to its timeframe.
“And the Naha community I am looking forward to work with anyone in your community,” Mrs Ernest said.
REP Staff, Mr Arnulfo C Garcia, said the intention of REP’s project focuses on vulnerable urban population increase income, improve knowledge, experience and basic employment skills.
He further adds REP also encompasses improving communities and young people in accessing to services and markets through repaired more climate roads and access infrastructure.
