SI disappointed at Taiwan’s exclusion from World Health Assembly
SOLOMON Islands has expressed its deep disappointment on the exclusion of Taiwan from the World Health Assembly (WHA) meeting which is currently underway in Geneva, Switzerland.
Minister of Health and Medical Service, Dr Kaitu’u Tautai Angikimua openly expressed this during his address at the WHA meeting Wednesday last week. “Solomon Islands wishes to express its deep disappointment on the exclusion of Taiwan from this WHA.
“The work of our Organization requires the cooperation of all stakeholders and Taiwan’s active participation in addressing global health issues will contribute to the achievement of WHO health objectives,” he said.
The Health Minister has therefore reiterated a call on the World Health Organisation to invite Taiwan as an Observer in the WHA meetings in future.
The WHA meeting started on 22 May and ends this coming Wednesday 31 May, 2017
However, Dr Angikimua, on behalf of the government and the people of Solomon Islands, offered sincere condolences to the Government and people of the United Kingdom for the recent terrorist attack in Manchester.
“Our prayers are with the families of those affected by this coward attack,” he said.
