Gov’t damns killings

PM condemns in strongest term, killing of naturalised citizens

THE Government has condemned what it describes as the cold-blooded murder of a naturalised Solomon Islands couple in Honiara recently.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force are continuing their investigations and are treating the circumstances surrounding the deaths as suspicious.

In a statement today, Prime Minister Hon Manasseh Sogavare said, “We condemn in the strongest term, the cold blooded murder of the naturalised Solomon Islands couple.

“Such a barbaric act is totally unacceptable in our society. The couple of Chinese origin are amongst the naturalised Solomon Islands citizens who have committed themselves to doing business in Solomon Islands and in doing so have contributed to government revenue collections.”

The Prime Minister conveyed the Government’s profound condolences to the children of the two deceased, their other family members both in Solomon Islands and abroad and the Solomon Islands Chinese Community.

He assured them that the Government through the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force will ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice for their act.
