Revenue sharing cannot be done yet

THE suggestion on the immediate implementation of revenue sharing through the proposed Federal System of Governance will not be considered just yet.

This is according to the Prime Minister Hon Manasseh Sogavare.

He made the statement in his winding up statement on the sine die motion he moved in Parliament last week.

The suggestion, he added, was picked straight out of the Democratic Coalition for Change Government (DCCG) Policy Statement and the suggestion was that the country should not wait for the Federal System.

“We cannot just move through the formula that is under the Federal Constitution.

“You hold back responsibilities of the national Government and it will starve to move down these functions,” the Prime Minister added.

He then added that the step must be treaded carefully and must be done properly.

“We take note of this, but it has to be done properly,” Prime Minister Sogavare said.
