Fiji students allowance this Thursday
STUDENTS studying at the various universities in Fiji have been assured their monthly allowance for May will be paid this Thursday.
The Education Attaché office assured students that funds should be in their bank accounts by Friday this week.
On Thursday last week, the government only gave FJ$300 to each student and promised to give the remaining $740 of their $1,040 monthly allowance this week.
The matter has hit the students hard with landlords demanding rents and exams being only a week away.
The students however, as of yesterday, are relieved as the Office of the Education Attaché (EA) has assured them of the payment.
This paper notes that the EA office told students that payment of allowance will continue to be affected until such time the country’s ailing financial situation is back to normal.
