WESTERN Warriors Football Club is fully focused for the Western Provincial soccer league which will start today.
Since starting camp on Friday night and being boosted with new uniforms, the club says they are now hundred percent focused after the hosting of a function to bless their new soccer uniforms last Friday.
The Superintendent Minister of the United Church Gizo Urban Circuit, Rev Billy Aniicolo was invited to do the dedication and blessing.
Being a soccer team made up of most youths who have criminal records, the minister mainly focused on the point that such activities can change lives as his encouragement to the team.
“Not only attending church programs can change ones live but participating in sports activities can also contribute to good lives, behaviours and characters,” the Minister said.
“This is because such activities also have rules for self-discipline which is one thing that is very important.
He told the players that they had to be brave in spirit as a team and welcome challenges with good manners.
“You must remember that you are representing your community as well so display good sportsmanship,” said Rev Aniicolo.
Western Warriors Team Manager Mr Gordon Sualalu during the function also reminded the boys to keep their unity as a family as they go through the league.
He expressed his happiness to be the Team Manager and was glad to have 20 pairs of new soccer uniforms.
Western Warriors players during the function also shared their happiness and expressed their determination, saying they are looking forward to do their community proud in the upcoming Western Premier League.
Western Warriors will kick off its first game this week on Wednesday 4:00pm against Gossa FC soccer club at the JFK Pitch.
Meanwhile Real Lite FC and Iriri Tape FC will meet 4pm this afternoon at the JFK Soccer Staduim in Gizo for the first match of the 2017 Western Premier League.
