We think there is stability here: RAMSI Deputy Special coordinator

SPEAKING at the SIWIBA (Solomon Islands Women in Business Association) annual general meeting yesterday, RAMSI’s deputy special coordinator, Mr Alex Cameron dropped by to say a few words.

Mr Cameron thanked SIWIBA for their programmes and said that the work of the association is very much appreciated.

He said that there are positive signs in the country such as ongoing construction of buildings and the current presence of tourists in country.

Mr Cameron mentioned that besides the positive outlook, there are impact issues that need to be addressed such as economic development and unemployment.

In relation, Mr Cameron said that the population rate in the capital is increasing and this will heavily impact areas like unemployment and land issues

“These are things to work on,” he said.

Mr Cameron also told women at the meeting that when RAMSI leaves, the work of SIWIBA and other associations must foster on.

In regards to RAMSI’s departure he said that they think there is stability in the Solomon Islands and that the RSIPF(Royal Solomon Islands Police Force) is now ready to carry out their duties given that they have been mentored and trained for a good 14 years by RAMSI.

“We think there is stability here,” he said.

Mr Cameron also said that a farewell week will be held for RAMSI and that SIWIBA is welcomed to attend.
