Trust Police: NZ PPF advisor

SPEAKING during last week’s stakeholder’s meeting hosted by the ministry of national unity, reconciliation and peace, the Police Participating Force advisor from New Zealand Mr Darren Folau spoke on “crime prevention strategy”.

He said the four drivers of crime are family, alcohol and drugs, youth and insufficient resources.

Mr Folau stated that the crime prevention strategy is suitable for the country because there are good communities, chiefs and a structure.

Moreover, the PPF advisor added that unlike other countries, Solomon Islands adapts to a more closely knit family lifestyle.

He also said that the crime prevention program conducts an outreach to every community and make reports from villages.

Mr Folau spoke of how well some members of a particular community handled a situation involving those who were disturbing the peace in the area and the police.

He said that they were very helpful in assisting the police in addressing the situation.

In light of this story Mr Folau urged stake holders to trust the police and if any problem arises, report it to the police.
