North Malaita people happy with court circuit

PEOPLE in and around Malu’u, North Malaita have expressed their happiness to the Judiciary Services for conducting court circuit in North Malaita.

This is after the people received judicial services of the Deputy Chief Magistrate Mr Shepard Lapo on Monday and Tuesday this week.

People have stated that many suspects in the region have been waiting for so long to have their cases ruled but were not possible due to unavailability of judiciary service.

People also pointed too that this is the first time ever for such a judicial person of such level to come down to the rural area and suspects would receive judgment of their cases in the community level.

They also said that this Deputy Chief Magistrate too was the first person after a very long time to come and spend two days and nights in Malu’u, North Malaita to hear the long lying log of court files in Malu’u Police Station.

They happily expressed that having felt the presence of the judicial right down in the community is big support to the minds of the rural people that our laws are not lifeless. It has strength in whatever level of the society.

One thing that the people also want to voice is the unavailability of suspects’ legal representatives.

They know that they already got their provincial legal representative in the provincial capital but they understand that due to inaccessibility of financial support they won’t have the services of legal representation in court.

They pointed that this delaying practice of funding legal counsel’s travelling is an obstacle to the legal proceedings of court cases.

They would like to humbly call to those people responsible for facilitating logistics of both Magistrates and Legal Counsels to try and prepare funds according to the judicial provincial proposed court circuits to enable rural people to receive smooth and efficient judicial services in the communities.
