Malaita Premier Hon Peter Ramohia during the awareness last Friday

PREMIER of Malaita province Hon Peter Ramohia supports the revitalising of the Development Bank of Solomon Islands (DBSI).

He said this during the DBSI awareness programme at Rarasu leaf hut last Friday.

The Malaita Provincial Government take this initiative of revitalising of DBSI in the country as a good idea for SMEs and other micro-financing schemes in rural areas.

He said, “Malaita province is happy indeed for this initiative towards development in our country.

“Most businesses in our country have successfully benefited from this bank DBSI.

“We are looking forward to work closely with the task force committee towards this initiative.

Also during the awareness programme questions and comments were raised which gave further insight for participants.

During the programme, it was also declared that the downfall of the DBSI was due to non-payment of loans to the bank.

Political involvement into the administration through appointments was also highlighted as one of the issues.

A policy will be amended towards revitalising of the development bank.
