Malaita Premier donates wheel chairs to Kiluufi hospital

PREMIER of Malaita province Hon Peter Ramohia has donated four wheel chairs to the Kilu’ufi hospital on Saturday.

During the hand over Premier Ramohia pointed out that the eight wheel chairs were donated to the Malaita Provincial Government with half of the donation diverted to Kiluufi hospital.

He said the donation was made possible by Johnny Sy, the Managing Director of Bulacan logging company currently operating on Guadalcanal province.

Ramohia said Kiluufi hospital has received four wheel chairs with the other four to be distributed to four other clinics in the southern region of malaita.

“I thank Johnny Sy the managing director of Bulacan logging company and also the president of the Solomon Forest Association for his kind donation towards our hospital and clinics.

“We are looking forward to building our relationship and working together towards upgrading our hospital facilities in our province.

Johnny Sy also donated a two and half tonne pickup truck to the Hearts of Hope charitable organisation which serves on malaita province.

Director of the Ministry of health and Medical Services (MHMS) in malaita province Dr Henry Kako appreciated the donation from the Premier of malaita province and provincial secretary Jackson Gege, especially for regarding Kilu’ufi hospital as one of their priorities in the provincial government policy.

“It is very important that it will go towards our hospital in serving our sick patients at Kilu’ufi.

Kako added that not only will it serve sick patients, but also towards their outpatient department where most people coming in and out for medical attention, especially for those who have fractures on their legs and back ache and where they need stretchers and wheel chairs to move them.

“This piece of equipments is really needed for this hospital,” Kako said.

Church of the latter day saints have also donated to us a number of wheel chairs last year but it was donated towards community based rehabilitation to other clinics and communities.

“By having these wonderful equipment, the staff of the hospital wish to thank the premier of malaita province and the malaita provincial executive for your heart felt donation towards the services provided in our hospital at Kilu’ufi,” Dr Kako remarked.
