He said as the project is advocating for the biodiversity in Solomon Islands, the ultimate aim is to educate the young generation to protect the plants in the country.
“One thing people in the country need to know about this country is, Solomon Islands is very special among some other countries in the world in terms of biodiversity.
“The country is making up of islands, but despite how small the country it held one of the richest biodiversity landscapes in the world.
“It a pride for the country and it’s also very lucky for the country to have such rich and beautiful biodiversity as such.
“But what will you do to keep on maintaining this beautiful biodiversity? It’s a very important question to ask.
“And this is the reason for the establishment of the project, to protect and preserve the floras today so the future generations can have chances to see,” he said.
Mr Kung pointed out that logging is rife in the country.
Adding that climate change is also another contributing factor that can be a threat to the biodiversity in the country.
He said there are lots of economic developments anticipated for the country that can be a potential threat to the country’s biodiversity.
Mr Kung stressed that it is very true the country is in dire need for development, but it’s very important to preserve the country’s biodiversity.
