Submarine cable company with new CEO

SOLOMON Islands Submarine Cable Company (SISCC) confirms that Keir Preedy commenced in the role of CEO for SISCC on February 6.

He arrived on February 4 in Honiara and has immediately set about the business of developing the long awaited submarine cable project for the Solomon Islands, from the basis of the work completed by the previous company, SOCC.

At a Board meeting of SISCC on February 16, an initial six month work plan was presented and approved for implementation.

The plans objectives are to revise the business and technical plans, complete the legal transfer of rights and contracts from SOCC to SISCC, determine project financing and complete contract negotiations with vendor Huawei Marine.

This ambitious plan will allow the submarine cable to be completed and operational by December 2018.

Keir Preedy is returning to the Solomon Islands to take up this role.

He has over 30 years of global telecommunications experience and is a recent former Chief Technical Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Our Telekom.

He brings a wealth of local knowledge to the project and a clear commitment to the development of this Nation through Communications technology.
