THE Solomon Islands Softball Association (SISA) now has an interim committee.
SISA in a statement yesterday said the interim committee was elected on Sunday 7 May 2017.
The new interim committee consists of the President Sakae Inoue, Vice President Rhibbie Auma, Secretary Sophia Ata, Treasurer Peter Havae and Members Tomu Piva and Tenai Prinster.
The committee has announced that a three-member group from Japan will be visiting Honiara from 26 to 28 May and will conduct an umpiring clinic for all interested softball players in Honiara. The three days’ program will commence on Friday and end on Sunday at the Panatina Campus field.
It calls on all interested players both old and new who wish to gain valuable knowledge and skills in umpiring and the basic skills in softball to attend this three days’ clinic.
“Participants will receive a certificate of attainment presented by the visiting Japanese team at the end of Saturday’s program. Participants receiving certificates will have the chance to umpire in softball matches during games that are anticipated for this year 2017,” it says.
The Committee also stressed that they are planning three major competitions for this year. They are the Independence Softball competition, the Honiara Softball League and the Christmas Softball competition. The Independence competition will see registration commencing on the 4 June 2017.
“More information on these games will be published very shortly in the newspapers and on the radio.,” it adds.
For now, the Committee urges and encourages interested players to turn up at the Panatina field for the three days’ program, and to listen out for more softball news in the coming days and weeks.
