Second murder suspect to be brought in today
THE second suspect in the LGZ double killing incident will likely be brought to Honiara today.
Director of National Criminal Investigation Division Chief Superintendent Ian Vaevaso confirmed yesterday that the suspect is currently in Auki and is being interviewed by police.
He said the suspect was interviewed by CID officers in Auki and will be brought over to Honiara today.
Mr Vaevaso said the suspect is yet to be charged.
Police Commissioner Mathew Varley said the arrest would not have been successful if the communities had not supported the police with the investigation.
He commended the support made by the communities; informing police of the suspect’s whereabouts.
He also commended the tireless round-the-clock efforts of his officers in their operation to capture the suspect.
Mr Varley also adds that despite these two arrests, police investigations are continuing.
He said the officers are working very hard behind the scene to make the arrest.
“If you commit these offences seriously we will find you and put you before the court,” Mr Varley said.
Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has arrested a second suspect on Sunday (May 21, 2017) in relation to the alleged murder of two people at LGZ building at Town Ground in West Honiara over the Easter period. The Police Commissioner acknowledged the assistance rendered by community leaders, chiefs, youths and church leaders for their tremendous support to police for the second arrest.
“I thank them for their support and understanding,” Commissioner of Police Mr Matthew Varley said.
