Police not ruling out any lead into suspected brutal killing of two Asians
POLICE detectives investigating the deaths of a man and a woman of Asian origin over the weekend at Town Ground are chasing leads into the ‘suspicious deaths’.
Police urge any person with information, no matter how small, to report to the police.
A security guard, manning the LGZ building, yesterday morning alerted police of two dead bodies discovered in the building – found lying dead with stab wounds.
The alleged brutal killing is believed to have occurred at around Saturday night, according to reports.
Police in a statement yesterday said investigations into this matter are in the early stages, and they are dedicating numerous resources to this investigation.
“Police are urging any person who may have any information, no matter how small, in regards to this matter to come forward to Police as a matter of urgency.
“Police are also appeal to Chinese Communities in the Solomon Islands, more especially in Honiara City to remain calm and allow this investigation to take its course,” the statement says.
Residents near the building informed this paper at the scene yesterday that their place was quiet since Saturday, and yesterday morning a bad smell emanated from the building and filled the surrounding area.
They conveyed that two deceased were found lying dead with stab wounds.
Police have not concluded whether the two deceased were a married couple or not, something which many had alluded to in social media.
“At this early stage the relationship of the two people is unknown and no suspects have been identified,” the police statement reads.
The body of the two Asians are kept at the National Referral Hospital morgue awaiting a thorough post mortem.
The horrific discovery yesterday morning comes less than three weeks after two alleged murders occurred early in the month.
