MARIST FC finally registered a win yesterday out of the three friendly matches the country’s two O-League reps so far played.
The Schmeling’s side who fought hard for retaliation during their second friendly was unsuccessful after their first loss and now they finally did.
A 3-2 win for Marist yesterday should enough for the hard working Schmeling, players and the fans as they all deserved.
However, their win doesn’t come easy as they only escape with a golden opportunity to retaliate for their first two defeats.
Western United who think of recording their third win for this last friendly match, wasted no time when sneaky Benjamin Totori hammered their first goal into the 13 minutes of play.
A very strong comeback for Marist after their one goal down as they seems to dominate every positions on the pitch.
About five minutes after Totori’s goal, Michael Boso level up the score line with a fantastic harder from a corner kick taken by Tuti Zama Tanito.
The two sides however locked up the score line with one all until the end of the first stanza.
The referee called in the second half of the match and there it showed the two sides on contesting race to who will take up the lead.
The two sides are often on attack as it created more threats on both side’s backlines.
It came to the 69 minutes when the Brazilian import, Djair Veiga rocket home the Marist’s second goal from a wonderful assist from his Brazilian colleague, Guilherme Guedes.
The men in the orange were 2-1 down to Marist despite their quest for taking the lead in the second half.
After the goal, Menapi’s side was seems a bit out of control and started to show some harsh play on Marist players.
There are numbers of yellow cards picked by Utd’s players and especially for fouling Schmeling’s striker, Guilherme Guedes.
Yellow tickets hanged on Nelson Sale’s back, Joachim Waroi, Atana Faroodo only for fouling Guilherme.
And Sale was given a red card after slapping Guilherme that made him not to complete the full match with his mates.
Despite the ten players for Western United, they came back strong after these infringements and Totori netted his second and the final goal for Western.
That equalize seems not to went down well with Mr Guilherme as he went to put more pressures on Waroi and his men at the back.
Guilherme and his men continue with more pressures and it came when he was tackle by Anthony Talo on one of his attempt in the box that lead the referee to award a penalty for Marist.
Guilherme stepped in to take the shot and with no difficulty he placed the ball passed Talo to make the winning goal for Marist.
Marist won the last friendly matches out of the three they played by 3-2.
