Chun Wah receive books from CHEC
CHUNG Wah School received sets of text books from the China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd yesterday.
The books, totalling up to 236 copies, were handed to the Acting Principal of the school by representatives from the Chinese company.
The books are in Mandarin language and were donated to the school purposely for learning of the language, as it has been part of the school syllabus.
The text books vary from the levels of years (classes) that will help the students a lot in their Mandarin language learning.
In the meantime, the Acting Principal of Chung Wah School, Ms Eunice Tahuniara thanked the CHEC for the fine donation.
She said for quite a long time the school faces difficulty with inadequate books as such.
“We only have very few Mandarin Language books in school, and with its insufficiency the teachers usually write on board when teaching the children with the language.
“With this gift from CHEC, it now shows the students will no longer write from the board s what they use to be, but will learn from the books in front of them.
“Not only the students along but it will also give relief to the teachers and make it easy for both teachers and students to learn from the books,” Ms Tahuniara said.
She said the books will soon be in use and the focus will be on the Kindergarten and those in Prep-classes.
Ms Tahuniara added that it is very important for the students to start with the language at an early age, so that when they proceed to the higher classes they continue to learn and understand the language.
CHEC is a Chinese Company currently working on the implementation of the flood recovery project in both East and West Guadalcanal.
