Woman frustrated over POB services

A concerned woman has called on the Pan Oceanic Bank to explain why they are not acting on customer’s request.

A woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, said she went to the bank several times to withdraw her child’s savings because she is no longer employed.

But, when she approached the bank with her intentions the bank refused to accept what she told them.

“I am no longer employed and I have the right to close the account but why did POB not accepting my request to close my child’s savings?”

She said it is frustrating because the bank is turning something simple to become a complicated matter which is victimising her and her family.

“it is just simple to just withdraw the money and then close the account,” she said.

She also calls on all fellow-Solomon islanders not to trust the POB Pikinini Savings account – “think first before opening a Pikinini savings”.

Meanwhile, Nigel Adrian, Chief Operating Officer of POB, said the Pikinini Savings is not a normal account like any other account – it is a saving meant for children.

Mr Adrian said when parents or guardians open the account the bank already explained to them how the account works and its conditions.

And for parents to just complain on why the bank has not agreed to their request is not good, he said.

He said under certain circumstances the bank would consider and will withdraw the money, but not in one such as is with the complainant’s case.
