Tutu Zone “Hey Dad Formation” workshop

TWENTY seven men from Tutu Zone on Northwest Choiseul attended a workshop called “Hey Dad Formation” at Tutu on the 17th and 18th of this month.

According to Mr Nerio Ulemiki reporting from Christ the King parish at Voruvoru, “Hey Dad” is a programme for men parenting children.

It is aimed at all fathers particularly those parenting under challenging circumstances.

Its purpose is for the whole family unit to benefit from their fathers being more involved with their children and more confident in their parenting role.

Mr Ulemiki said the workshop elaborated more on ways and roles with eight sessions on how to become a better father by covering the pros and cons of parenthood.

The eight sessions are the role of fathers, understanding children as they grow, relating to them, communication, dealing with feelings, new directions in discipline, self-esteem and just for you.

Groups one, two and three of Tutu zone were responsible for the food catering during the workshop and they were very supportive.

The mothers of Tutu zone who supported this programme said the main reason for supporting and encouraging their husbands in the “Hey Dad” programme is to make sure they understand well their roles as fathers.

“This is in order for them to work together with their wives to set up better families,” they said.

The workshop opened with a Holy Mass celebrated by Christ the King parish priest Fr Henry Paroiop at 7:00am on the 17th of March. The workshop had started with the theme “Love our family like St Joseph”.

It was facilitated by Fr Henry Paroiop, Parish Coordinator Paul Ruasa, Catechist Coordinator Chrisanto Pitakesa, the Parish treasurer and secretary Lawrence Kodakana and the media coordinator for Christ the King parish Mr Nerio Ulemiki.

The people of Tutu Zone especially men were thankful for the great inputs gained through the workshop.

They thanked Fr Henry Paroiop and his team for facilitating such a high quality workshop that will pave a new way for fathers of Tutu zone to become better fathers.
